Why is the City of Woodinville engaging online?

The City made the decision to prioritize online engagement following the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic.

Initially, our goal was to provide timely, useful information about the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery phases.

As physical distancing continues to be a reality, the City cannot rely on in-person meetings or community events to gather resident feedback about the projects we're working on. Even in normal times, not everyone is able to attend public meetings or find time to seek out elected officials.

Our hope is that this virtual tool will allow the community to make their voice heard in a meaningful way.

Why am I being asked to register?

Registration is not required to view conversations on Engage Woodinville or even to participate in some polls, but it is necessary for many of the more in-depth engagement opportunities.

We ask that residents register because it helps promote civil conversations and allows city staff to follow up on issues or keep in touch with interested residents to send out updates.

Finally, registration helps us understand who is participating and help us ensure we're hearing from a diversity of voices. That's why the registration process asks questions about your age and the neighborhood you live in-- we want to make sure we hear from everyone!

How will my feedback be used?

The answer to this question varies by project, but in general the feedback we collect through Engage Woodinville is aggregated, analyzed, and incorporated into project planning and policy-making.

    Is my privacy protected?

Yes. The City will never use your email for purpose other than to send you project updates that you've signed up to receive. The City does not ask for personal information beyond age range and your connection to Woodinville, and does to pass along demographic details to third parties.
